Cupcake Party Bags Questions

Cupcake Party Bags
Need help with my daughter’s cupcake birthday party! Please help!?

My daughter is turning 3 on June 27, 2008 and my husband and I are throwing her a birthday party. It’s a cupcake themed party, and colors are chocolate brown and pink. I need ideas on games, goody bags, favors, etc. I want to keep it all about the kids so little details for them like the favors will be great. Our budget is about $300 and I think we can do a lot with that much if we spend it wisely. It’s going to be at my mother in laws house, and we were thinking about getting a couple of little waiting pools for the kids since it’s going to be like over 100 (we live in Fresno, Ca) As for the menu I was going to order pre-cooked chicken, macaroni salad, fruit salad, beans, rice (my husband is Hispanic) rolls, or tortillas. We are also going to get a pinata. As for the dessert, I work at a bakery so I’m gong to order cupcakes with chocolate brown and pink deco, and then a separate little cake for the birthday girl. What do you think? Please I need help. I’m really stressing out here!

What you have planned so far sounds great and I LOVE the colors!! I also love the theme of the cupcakes! Your daughter is going to love her party!

I would definitely do the little kiddie pools, the kids will have fun with them, but I would make sure that it’s something where the adults you’re inviting would pay attention to their children in the pool and not leave it up to you. Make sure you have some helpers, even if it’s older teens that can watch the little ones in the pools.

You can get balloons and streamers in pink, brown, and white, and cluster the balloons around the party and then hang some streamers around the party. It would look really pretty in those colors and very festive and party-like!

For favors you can get little bags and fill them with stickers, crayons, bubbles, fake tattoos, sidewalk chalk, etc. Go to the dollar store, you can get packs of those things very inexpensively to fit your budget. The kids will LOVE all those little trinket type things and kids that age LOVE sidewalk chalk and bubbles, crayons and things that are crafty. They also love stickers and things. You can also get them pencils and pads, etc. I would go and check out the dollar stores, you can get TONS there and your money goes SO much further!

For games at that age, you can do hot potato, but you can get a stuffed cupcake, (check toy stores or the dollar store, I have seen stuffed cupcakes!) and play hot cupcake, and just play it the same way as hot potato. Then print out a picture of a cupcake and play put the cherry on the cupcake, and you can print out a picture of a cupcake and have it enlarged, and then make another copy, make more copies from that and copy the cherries on top. Or whatever is on top of it. Then have the kids have to put the topping on, if it’s a cherry or candy, etc.

You can also have them play musical chairs, then get some inflatable beach balls (you can use them for favors for the kids too) and let the kids play with them too. They’ll have fun playing with them on their own. You can also get some plain cupcakes and have the kids decorate them.

You can set up a an ice cream bar and get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings like sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and cherries and have the kids make their own sundaes.

You can have the kids when they make their own cupcakes bring them home, get plain cupcakes and icing and toppings and have them decorate them and bring them home, this way you have your cupcakes for the kids for the party, and they have their’s to bring home for dessert or to a special family member etc.

I hope some of these ideas help and that your daughter has a great party and very Happy Birthday!

5 Keys to Successfully Planning a Party for a Baby or Toddler

My granddaughter had her first birthday last month and due to the large family that welcomed this first grandchild, first niece, and first great-grandchild; well you get the picture she is the first, into the world the celebration was large. By the time the day was over there were over 50 people in attendance to sing Happy Birthday and watch the gift opening. The “party girl” handled it all beautifully but by the end of the day she was exhausted and ready for quiet time. As birthday number two feels like it is just around the bend I thought researching best baby party planning ideas might be helpful. Here are five keys to ensuring a successful birthday bash for a toddler.

1.) How many people should be invited? This is difficult when you have a large family that lives in close proximity but there is a time when grandparents, aunts & uncles, etc. need to not be included in the actual party. A general rule for the number of party participants is the child’s age plus 1. Although this sounds like a small party, remember that mom, dad and any siblings will also be present.

2.) The party theme will help set the tone for everything from the cake style, games played to the party favors and goody bags. Choose a theme that is fun for your child, not the one that is the most popular of the season. We all know what toys, movies or games that are children enjoy and what makes them smile, create a party theme based on their favorite interest or toy.

3.) Party games should be fun for everyone. Remember that competitive games are only fun for those that win. Everyone should have fun at the party and leave with happy thoughts of the day. Tears and hard feelings can be avoided if games where the entire group participates as a whole are planned, and everyone gets to receive a prize. Remember this is a party.

4.) The all important cake can become part of the party process. A full size, two tier cake is the traditional selection for most birthday parties however for children the small cupcake can be a wonderful option. Cupcakes can easily be made in multiple flavors with all types of frosting flavors so everyone can find a cupcake they like. You can even create a game out of cupcake decorating that is fun for all and everyone gets to be a winner. Have the party participants decorate their own cupcakes with prizes for every category imaginable.

5.) Party favors and goodie bags are part of the party process that can easily get out of hand and over budget. Keep them simple, it is better to be more creative in the selection. Give party favors that reflect the party theme. Wrapping some of the items that go in the favor bag adds additional fun for the party goers. Remember to have the birthday child hand the goody bags out as this provides the opportunity for them to thank each guest personally.

Remember it is not the size of the party or the number of gifts that are important. A celebration for the birthday child should be focused on creating tangible childhood memories of a wonderful day spent with family and friends where everyone had a good time.
